2016 Running of The Rose - Rosary Prayer Service

posted Oct 4, 2016, 12:55 PM by Saint Aidan
One of six silver roses traveling through North America to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe and encourage respect for life is scheduled to be at St. Aidan Church on Monday, October 17. 2016.  A prayer service will be led by the youth of our parish and will begin at 7:00 PM with meditation of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.  All are most welcome to join us in prayer.

The rose coming here to our parish is part of the Knights of Columbus program called "Our Lady of Guadalupe Silver Rose - One Life, One Rose" program.  Each silver rose starts out in Canada and is included in prayer services as it travels throughout North America.  The journey ends at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Monterrey, Mexico for 4 of the roses.  The other 2 roses - one of which is the rose visiting our parish - will end their journey at St. Mary's Church in New Haven, birthplace of the Knights of Columbus.  All 6 roses will reach their destination on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, December 12th.  The program uses roses because of the importance of roses in the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
